For our Digital Design: Art Direction 1 course, we we're tasked to create a book cover of our chosen Filipino Folktales. The design should appeal to the Generation Z (born 1995-2015). The folktale I've chosen is "The Adventures of Juan".

The folktale follows a lazy and troublesome boy named Juan who met a magical tree that gave him magical items one of which is a deadly and mystical stick.

The book cover shows Juan holding the stick as he enters the jungle. The magical tree is also shown through the negative space. A round and a bit playful style is used accompanied by contrasting and vibrant color scheme insuring that the cover appeals to the Gen Z. The use of dark and light blue signifies the magical and mystical theme of the folktale while the orange signifies Juan's lazy and troublesome personality.
